WTF Wednesday - Canine edition

Have you missed me?  While I've been off work for about three weeks, last week we were actually out on a real vacation.  There was fun in the sun and many, many miles driven.  For now, we are back to the same old routine while the kids enjoy the last week before they go back to school.  I will be writing about our vacation shortly, but wanted to catch up with my "Welcome To France" Wednesday.

Today will be the canine edition.

That's a super cute dog, right?   Can you tell what is wrong with this picture though?

"Mommy why is there a dog inside a restaurant?"

No, that isn't a seeing eye dog, the French just love to take their pets everywhere- cafes, restaurants, shopping malls, grocery stores and the like.  There are very few places where pets are not allowed.

Can you imagine going out to a restaurant and having people bring in their dogs?  Welcome to France.

What's weirder, the dog on the floor or the horse on the plate?

There is no way my dog would lay there that nicely on the floor surrounded by people eating!

That's ok, we just saw a man pushing his dog around in a little buggy, speciallly designed for dogs. Sunshade, cupholder, the whole 9 yards...

My dog is probably a little big for that...

I got so used to that....then when you asked the question, I had NO idea what was wrong with the picture!! Big dog, little dogs...I shared meals with all kinds!!

You so need to come back to South Carolina. Some dogs here can't even come in the house.

I would never take my dogs into a restaurant. They are way too wild and crazy.

They let their dogs poop on the sidewalks too and never clean it up. I stepped in it once and cursed the entire country!

p.s. I didn't know that WTF Wednesday meant Welcome to France. That is a play on words/letters, right?

I'd forgotten about that! I cannot imagine having pets at restaurants here. I'm too timid to even bring my loud toddler sometimes, lol!

That's a real eye-opener! Great theme for a post, I look forward to discovering other quirky cultural differences :-)

I didn't see too many in restaurants- but Durango, CO was the same way with their love of dogs. So saw dogs in places there never would anywhere else.

Glad you enjoyed your summer- can't wait to hear about your trip

I don't mind the dogs that much but the cats drive me nuts! Have you ever been to a family owned restaurant or bar here where they just let their cat walk all around? The cat jumps on the chairs, on the tables. It's gross and freaks me right out.

Can you imagine my dog instead of that one? :)

And it's crazy because it's taking up the whole aisle! LOL, I guess it's trying to stay cool on the tile, but goodness!

That definitely makes lunch a little more interesting!

Dogs are everywhere in China too. With the added fun fact that they are often part of the meal as well...yeah

It's funny you say this because we were just in a restaurant on Saturday and a woman came in carrying her not-small dog. It was so strange and I kept waiting for the staff to tell her he could not be inside but no one ever did. He even had his own chair.

Oh people in Malaysia take their dogs out to restaurants too. Though not every restaurant, and usually only in the al fresco dining area. But still.

I can't! That is a strange one.
