There is one country in particular though, that I have a strange attraction to - Sweden. I don't know why but Sweden has always been a country that I've always wanted to visit. I was so excited when I moved to Europe that I told Cornel we had to make sure to see Sweden and all of the Nordic countries, to which he responded "that's the last thing I want to vist". What?!
I was dumbfounded. DUMBFOUNDED!
I mean, how can he not want to visit the home land of Abba?
And the land of meatballs.....
And of course the home land of Ikea!!
{I had also wanted to see the wooden shoes and tulips before Cornel quickly pointed out that those were in Holland. oops...but I thought I would include the picture anyway!}
And of course, take a nice tour of Stockholm!
I have started to work on my husband slowly each day in hopes that one day he would cave and say he was taking me to Sweden, but alas still no dice! I don't think I will get a chance to visit before we leave Europe, but this will stay in the list of places that I need to visit in my lifetime!

Submitted as part of Mama Kat's writing workshop.

How could anyone resist the birthplace of Ikea?? And MEATBALLS??? I don't know any man that can say no. Keep working on it :)
Looks like fun! Visiting from Mama Kat's.
Yay Sweden. They can't be all bad - they created IKEA for goodness sake!
Haha! Love Abba! That picture is priceless! Keep working on him...he might change his mind!
This is a nice post
It's on my list too! I'm hoping Stockholm needs to travel there in the fall so we can meet him for the weekend :) XoL
I LOVE Sweden! Definitely go! I went there briefly while visiting my husband (boyfriend at the time) in Finland and we were able to go for a day visit. It was around Thanksgiving and not too cold. Gamla Stan was gorgeous and we went to see the Vasa museum, which was very intriguing. People we encountered were so gracious and kind to us (compared to Finland where we were routinely treated rudely). Stockholm reminded me a lot of NYC in its pace. Definitely a city I want to visit again!
ok, here I go again! IF you convince him to try Sweden, just don't go in the winter. The only time I went was December...three hours of daylight I think! Did get a lot of really nice Christmas decorations....HOLLAND, however, was my favorite place outside of France. The train trip there through tulip fields (early spring, you have to time it write) is AMAZING! And we adored everything about amsterdam!! Much more accessable than Sweden!
How wonderful! I've been very fortunate to travel the world but I haven't been to Sweden. Go! But now I have the Abba song mama mia in my head, giggle.Hoping your weekend is a sweet one. Thinking of you and sending ♥
I could not live without IKEA--or IKEA meatballs. Although I would love to visit Sweden as well someday...only AFTER France though...someday...
Cheers.

I've never been to Sweden but I love Ikea!!!
Visiting from Bees With Honey. I would love to visit Sweden. Alas, it's just a pipe dream of mine. I hope you get to go one day soon.
I would love to visit Sweden some day also! I hear its beautiful there. And I am a HUGE ABBA and IKEA fan as well. LOL
Keep trying. He will cave one day.
Who couldn't love the place where IKEA was founded? Love that store...remind him of how much money you could save by visiting NOW while you're so close vs. later when you'd have to travel much farther. Maybe the saved money could help him see the light :)
just stopped in from over at MK's
I would love to go to Sweden too and so would my husband. Isn't it the land of the blondes?
Love that you thought wooden shoes were from there too, that is something I would do.
Really who wouldn't want to visit the home of Ikea and Abba? What a spoiled sport!
I went to a Swedish college so I have actually seen the King and Queen when they came to visit, just as a totally random Swedish fact :-)
Tell him that you want to go no matter, so it'll be a lot easier and cheaper to go while in Europe instead of returning at a later time.
I agree with Liz. Point out how cost effective it is to go now, rather than wait.
I don't know about Sweden, but I can say Holland is quite lovely! When I lived in Germany as a child we used to drive to the market in Holland from time to time. I have very fond memories of Holland (and Germany!)
LOL. Great post. I would love to see just about any part of the world. I can't see passing up an opportunity! :)
Oh also, yeah... thanks for mentioning Abba. Any time I even REMOTELY think about them I can't get Dancing Queen out of my head for a week. :)
I love the idea of your list, I really hope you get to see Berlin, that is my favourite place is Europe (other than Scotland - but I may be biased there!).
Sweden would be pretty cool too though, I hear there's an ikea museum there too and a staff bar serving beer near the big store!
I think it means that much to you, you should go. I've never been, but my husband's aunt lives there so he took my daughter to visit when she was seven. They both had a wonderful time.
A little known fact is that if you buy a volvo from their overseas department (directly from the factory), they will fly you to Sweden and put you up in a hotel for a night. You also get to drive your new volvo around a race track outside the factory. Hey, you never know!
I haven't been to Sweden, or Ikea. But since there's an Ikea opening in Denver just a few miles from my house, at least I have a shot at Ikea. (Humming Dancing Queen in my mind as I write this)!
I am back for this great post. My husband wants to take a family trip there for a canoeing/camping trip - I can't decide if it sounds like a good idea or not. Maybe just get our toes wet in Stockholm?
Thank you for linking to Post Of The Month Club! XOLaura
I also want to visit Sweden. We should all go! Why not take a morning flight when he's at work and return in the evening?
You absolutely have to go! And embarrass him by demanding meatballs and quoting Abba at people.
It is a very nice post
This is a great post
I'm quite certain I will learn many new stuff right here! Best of luck for the next!
